When is the official launch of Trados Studio 2022?
Trados Studio 2022 is coming soon and not yet available. However, if you purchased Trados Studio 2021 on or after 1 April 2022, you will receive Studio 2021 immediately and will receive Trados Studio 2022 for free upon release.

If I purchased Trados Studio on a subscription basis, will I automatically receive a free upgrade to Trados Studio 2022?
Yes, if you purchased Trados Studio on a subscription basis, you will automatically receive the latest updates to Trados Studio. The Trados Studio 2022 package will be added to your RWS account upon release.
If I have already bought Trados Studio 2021, am I eligible for an upgrade to Trados Studio 2022?
If you have purchased Trados Studio 2021 and have an active Support and Maintenance Agreement (SMA) at the time of purchase, you are entitled to a free upgrade to Trados Studio 2022.
If you don’t have an active SMA, you are not entitled to a free upgrade to Trados Studio 2022, though you can upgrade to Trados Studio 2022 for an upgrade cost (rather than paying for a new license). Upgrade options will be available after the official launch or you can pre-order your upgrade now.
However, if you purchased Trados Studio 2021 on or after 1 April 2022, or if you purchased Trados Studio on a subscription basis, you will receive Trados Studio 2022 for free upon release. The Trados Studio 2022 package will be automatically added to your RWS account.
If I buy Trados Studio 2021 now, will I be eligible for a free upgrade to Trados Studio 2022?

Can I upgrade to Trados Studio 2022 from an older version of the software?
Yes, if you are currently a Trados Studio 2017 or 2019 customer, you can upgrade now to Trados Studio 2021 and automatically receive Trados Studio 2022 upon release.
If you bought Trados Studio 2021 before 1 April 2022, you can pre-order an upgrade to Studio 2022.

I have a copy of Trados Studio 2017 and want to upgrade to the latest version, when will the upgrade pricing end?
You will be able to upgrade from Trados Studio 2017 to Studio 2022 until 30 September 2022. The special upgrade pricing will close after this date. Should you wish to upgrade from Trados Studio 2017 to Studio 2022 after 1 October 2022, you will need to purchase a new license for Studio 2022. If you are using Trados Studio 2017, we recommend that you upgrade now to Studio 2021, and be one of the first to receive Trados Studio 2022 upon release.
Does the release of Trados Studio 2022 have any impact on other versions of Trados Studio?
Trados Studio 2021 will no longer be available for sale after the official launch of Studio 2022. However, existing users of Trados Studio 2017, 2019 and 2021 will be able to continue using their existing software packages.
An upgrade to Trados Studio 2022 from Studio 2017 will be possible until 30 September 2022, after which only upgrades from Studio 2019 and 2021 will be available.
If I purchase Trados Studio 2022, will I have to pay for cloud capabilities?
From Trados Studio 2021, essential cloud capabilities have come as standard and will always be available for customers using currently supported versions of Trados Studio. This means Trados Studio 2022 users will not have to pay an additional charge to use essential cloud capabilities. If you are a Studio 2021 user and choose to upgrade to Studio 2022, your cloud account will continue to be available as before, so you can continue to work with Trados Studio 2022 in the same way.
If you require project management and collaboration functionality (Trados Live Team) or translation management capabilities (Trados Enterprise), we also have paid cloud subscription options available.
Is Trados Studio 2022 compatible with previous versions of Studio?
Yes, we offer full compatibility in terms of translation memory and bilingual files across Trados Studio 2019, 2021 and 2022.
Although translation memories and bilingual files are compatible across Studio versions from 2009 to 2022, as we continue to add more features, there are potential discrepancies in feature availability, word counts and file types when working in older versions of Trados Studio. Some of the latest features, such as upLIFT, are only fully available in Studio 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2022.
Will there be a MultiTerm major release? If so, when will it take place?
Yes, MultiTerm 2022 will be released alongside Trados Studio 2022. If you upgrade to Trados Studio 2022, you will automatically receive MultiTerm 2022 for free.
Is Trados Studio 2022 compatible with other products in the Trados product portfolio?
Yes, Trados Studio 2022 will be compatible with:
RWS Language Cloud and Trados cloud subscriptions, including Trados Live Team and Trados Enterprise.
Trados GroupShare 2020 and Trados GroupShare 2017. We recommend using the latest released versions of GroupShare 2020 and 2017. For details on latest releases, see our knowledge base for GroupShare 2020.

Trados Business Manager Essential, Trados Business Manager Team and Trados Business Manager Enterprise.
What are the system requirements for Trados Studio 2022?
Trados Studio 2022 supports Windows 10 and Windows 11. We recommend Windows 11.
As a minimum requirement, we recommend an Intel or compatible CPU-based computer with 4 GB RAM and a screen resolution of 1024x768.
For optimum performance, we recommend a 64-bit operating system, 16 GB RAM, an SSD drive and a recent Intel or compatible CPU. Full support for 4K hi-resolution screens is planned and will be implemented incrementally in future releases. Trados Studio 2022 uses .Net Framework 4.8.
